Dr. Romi Ran

Speaking & workshops

A fresh perspective can change what feels possible.

The way we interpret an experience can shape how we feel, what we believe about ourselves, and what we do next. In my talks and workshops, I invite audiences to pause, question familiar assumptions, and see their experiences from a new perspective.

Every talk includes an experiential element. Through reflection and guided exercises, I bring the ideas to life so people can recognise them in their own experience. My aim is for audiences to leave with something tangible: a different way to see a familiar situation, a practice to try, or a choice they hadn’t noticed before—and a way to put it to use in their lives.

Topic ideas

A few possible starting points.

These topic ideas give a sense of the conversations I can bring to your event. We can develop one of them or shape a different talk around the questions your audience is facing.

What you’re experiencing is not what’s happening

A different perspective on stress and how we respond under pressure.

The mind does more than observe a moment; it interprets it. Drawing on the central idea of my TEDx talk, this topic explores how the meanings we attach to events shape our feelings and reactions. Distinguishing what happened from the story we have built around it can open up more choice in how we respond.

What silence reveals

Attention, overwhelm, and what we notice when the noise falls quiet.

Drawing on my experience of extended retreats, I explore what happens when we step away from constant input and distraction. What do we encounter when there is less to occupy us? This conversation considers silence, identity, and the place of deliberate pauses in a busy life.

Beyond the rules of food and body

Rethinking the beliefs that connect eating, appearance, and self-worth.

Ideas about food, body image, and control can become woven into how we see ourselves. Drawing on Bite Sized Peace and my work in this area, I explore how these rules take hold and how we might begin to relate to food, our bodies, and ourselves with greater understanding.

The roles we live inside

Identity, expectations, and finding room for change.

Some roles we choose; others we absorb from family, culture, or circumstance. This topic explores how those identities shape our choices, what happens when a familiar role no longer fits, and what becomes possible when we see ourselves beyond its expectations.

From individual strengths to shared success

Connecting individual motivations with a shared purpose.

A conversation for businesses and nonprofit organisations about the people behind shared goals. This topic explores how individual motivations and strengths connect with an organisation’s priorities, how working relationships affect progress, and what helps or hinders collaboration. It can be shaped as a talk or an interactive workshop for leaders and teams.

My TEDx talk explores a question at the heart of my work: how much of our experience comes from what is happening, and how much from the meaning we give it?
